Matt has lived in Boise, Idaho since 1999, graduating from Boise State University in 2012 with a B.A. in Political Science. After a year of studying law at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, he transferred to the new Concordia University School of Law in Boise.
While in law school he served as chairperson of the Faculty Standards Subcommittee and provided pro bono legal services through Concordia’s Housing and Tenancy Clinic. He graduated with his Juris Doctorate degree in 2016, passed the Washington State bar exam and was then admitted to the Idaho State Bar in 2017. “Boise is a great place to come home to,” is one of his favorite sayings.
After law school graduation, Matt worked at an internet IP enforcement startup where he researched emerging electronic privacy issues and drafted contracts with internet service providers. Most recently Matt provided legal counsel for the J. R. Simplot Company, negotiating procurement, sales and construction contracts, drafting non-disclosure agreements and performing due diligence on corporate acquisitions. In 2019 he began an MBA program through Concordia to better counsel clients in business matters and is set to graduate in December 2020.
Matt joined McNeice Wheeler in 2020 to bring the firm’s legal services to southern Idaho. He and his wife, Sarah, who is a physician in Boise, choose to live in the city where they enjoy Boise’s thriving foodie culture, accessible wilderness areas, and Boise State football. They particularly like escaping to national and state parks to hike and let Matt pursue his newest hobby of drone photography.
